Prof. John (Iannis) Mourmouras has been serving as the senior Deputy Governor of the Bank of Greece since March 2015. His responsibilities pertain to the implementation of monetary policy, capital markets, payment and settlement systems and bank resolution. In addition to the aforementioned duties, he chairs two committees: the Financial Asset Management Committee and the Bank Resolution Committee. Prof. Mourmouras served as Deputy Finance Minister of Greece in the government of Prime Minister Lucas Papademos and was Chief Economic Advisor to the Prime Minister Antonis Samaras. Since 2001, he holds a chair in Macroeconomics at the Department of Economics, University of Macedonia – Thessaloniki, Greece.
