Nikos Vettas is a Professor at the Athens University of Economics and Business, where he has also served as the Chairman of the Economics Department and he currently serves at the University Council. He has a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania and has been an Associate Professor at Duke University and a visiting Professor at INSEAD. He is an Associate Editor of the Journal of the European Economic Association, of the International Journal of Industrial Organization and of the Journal of Industrial Economics, a Research Fellow at CEPR and member of the Economic Advisory Group for Competition Policy at the European Commission. His interests are primarily in the area of microeconomics, industrial organization, game theory and competition policy. His work has been published at the International Economic Review, European Economic Review, International Journal of Industrial Organization, Journal of Industrial Economics, Rand Journal of Economics, Review of Economic Studies and other journals. Since September 2013, he is Director General of the Foundation for Economic and Industrial Research (IOBE).
